Students learn NRA’s rules for safe gun handling; pistol parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; range rules; shooting from the bench rest position, and two handed standing positions; cleaning the pistol; and continued opportunities for skill development. Students will receive the NRA Guide to the Basics of Pistol Shooting handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet, take a Basics of Pistol Shooting Student Examination, and course completion certificate. All students must be able to demonstrate safe handling of all firearms, demonstrate marksmanship, loading, reloading (with both semi-automatic and revolver), and safe range behavior. There are a limited number of class firearms available for those not owning a firearm. $20.00 fee for use of class guns to cover ammunition and maintenance . All students must fire 20 practice rounds from a revolver or semiautomatic pistol, for a total of 20 practice rounds into a B27 target from 7 yards with a semi-automatic or revolver. All students must fire 20 rounds qualification from a revolver or semiautomatic pistol, for a total of 20 qualifying rounds fired into a B27 target. Scoring a minimum of 15 out of 20 rounds for each pistol type. Total rounds fired will be 40. Class time will run 9+ hours. Students will have 10 minute breaks approximately every 50 minutes. Range time can be from 1.5 hrs to 3.5 hrs depending on the experience of the shooters. So practice for reloading and shooting skills. Illinois residents are eligible for the Florida non-resident CCW's which is not valid in Illinois however it is recognized in Missouri & many other states. It's up to you to decide if the Florida CCW permit fits your needs. Speak with your instructor for more detailed information.
Eligibility Requirements You must be 21 years of age or older.
You must be able to demonstrate competency with a firearm.
Unless you are serving overseas in the United States Armed Forces, you must currently reside in the United States (US) AND be a US citizen or deemed a lawful permanent resident alien by Department of Homeland Security, US Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS). If you are serving overseas in the US Armed Forces, submit a copy of your deployment documentation with your application. If you are not a US citizen, submit documentation issued by the USCIS proving you are a permanent legal resident alien with proof you have resided in the state of residence (as shown on your application) for at least 90 consecutive days prior to the date the application is submitted.

NRA Basic Personal Protection In The Home Course "PPITH"
NRA Basic Personal Protection In The Home Course Teaches the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude essential to the safe and efficient use of a handgun for protection of self and family, and to provide information on the law-abiding individual’s right to self-defense.
This is an eight-hour course. Students should expect to shoot approximately 100-150 rounds of ammunition. Students will learn basic defensive shooting skills, strategies for home safety and responding to a violent confrontation, firearms and the law, how to choose a handgun for self-defense, and continued opportunities for skill development.
Gear required for class, Reliable handgun, clean and in safe working order , Semi auto, with proper fitting holster, 3 magazines and mag pouch, or revolver with proper fitting holster and 2-4 speed loaders “at least 3 recommended” 100-150 rounds of factory fresh ammunition. No reloaded ammunition please. Ball Cap, Eye protection with a minimum safety rating of z87+, and ear protection, minimum of foam plug of ear muff. Power muff are recommended making it easier to range commands.
Students will receive the NRA Guide to the Basics of Personal Protection In The Home handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, the Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet, course completion certificate, and Lesson Plan .

Kurt Bahr re-election campaign fundraiser CCW Class. Exercise your 2nd Amendment rights! If you haven't taken the class to get your conceal carry permit then come out with me May 5th and take the class to get your permit. Class will be taught by Kevin Bennett, K9-Tactical.com . Bring your favorite semi-auto and revolver handguns and 70 rounds of ammunition for each firearm for a total of 140 rounds. You will have 50 practice rounds and 20 qualifying rounds for each handgun type. You will be required to shoot both, a semi auto and revolver. If you do not have one or the other or both, class guns will be available for rent $15.00 per student, this covers the ammunition and maintenance. The range is outdoors so dress for the weather.
